Uk prime minister pushes for brexit deal ahead of EU summit

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras was seen by many in Brussels with deep disappointment and disappointment on Thursday after his failed election victory failed to persuade the EU's governing council to offer him a treaty reform deal to replace the euro.

"I was not told where Mr Tsipras was in the negotiation, nor did the president tell me what he meant when he said he would propose an agreement."

The official added: "I don't believe it was any formal discussion. He is a European, but that didn't stop the White House from being very vague."

There were several proposals included in Mr Tsipras' victory speech during the party conference.

Mr Tsipras wants a treaty reform deal to replace the euro and, if adopted, also a change in the EU's budget rules.

He hopes that any agreement can be reached by the end of the year after which he can press for a referendum.

There had been claims he would make concessions on Greece's long-term debt obligations. However, Mr Tsipras has repeatedly said there are no conditions for any future deal.

If he cannot win approval for the proposed changes - which would require approval by EU national parliaments - Mr Tsipras will leave office with no further changes to the agreement, with an exit date of 2020.

The EU will have to find alternative ways to borrow money without the euro but some believe such a switch would be unpopular.

The study shows that the tax break for the super-rich has doubled, from Â£100 billion in 1995 to around Â£200 billion in 2009 and has the potential to increase by another 8 percent a decade from now.

"I think it's a good policy, which is why people across society are calling for the repeal of these tax cuts," Tony Abbott said at the time. "Australians don't like the idea of higher taxes and they want to get rid of them.

"And that's what I'm doing."

The Greens did promise to remove the tax breaks in a budget, but at the time it was expected to only cut benefits for those earning more than Â£120,000 - currently the upper limit for tax breaks.

The current tax bill for the wealthiest 5 percent of taxpayers, according to the report:
